It was a moving moment in the 125-year history of the Vienna Symphony: under the baton of Chief Conductor Petr Popelka, the orchestra marked its anniversary in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein with a carefully chosen program. Following Wagner’s Faust Overture and Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with Anna Vinnitskaya, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller illuminated the hall with Alban Berg’s Seven Early Songs — one of the orchestra’s historically significant premieres. The evening concluded with Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony, rounding off the celebration in grand style.
